UK,12mo wraps,author SIGNED,p/back 1st edn.Near VG.[Published by Michael Joseph (UK)1966,in hardback.] No owner inscrptn, but author's neat,handwritten blue ink signature - without dedication - to title page.Bright,fairly clean,colour photographic illustrated upper wrap; with negligible shelf-wear and creasing to edges and corners.Book has a slight lean and apparently no reading creases to it's spine/backstrip.Top+fore-edges heavily toned/aged - as usual/normal; contents bright,tight and clean with inevitable page-edge toning - no major dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners.UK, 12mo wraps,SIGNED,p/back 1st edn,5-222pp [paginated] includes 18 chapters plus [unpaginated] half-title page,SIGNED title page,and 1pp publisher's advert to rear. For copyright reasons (then 1968) this edition was not for sale in the USA.A very nice paperback first edition/copy of an uncommon and sought after early Dick Francis title and novel.Even with an increased initial print run,still a difficult title to find in hardback 1st edn.Uncommon in it's first paperback appearance - particularly SIGNED. Story revolving around the international transport of racehorses and breeding stock,drawing on Dick Francis's R.A.F, experiences and his wife Mary's,after she took flying lessons,eventually gaining her pilot's licence,buying her own 'plane,a Piper Cherokee,and both of them flying on a horse transporter to Italy. Since April 2013,and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template,altering its prices, weight allowances,dimensions and lowered its qualifying compensation rates too!
